Benefits

Extra Help employees work in temporary/as-needed assignments and are not eligible for vacation or regular sick leave benefits.

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires large employers like the University of Illinois to offer health insurance coverage to substantially all (at least 95%) of their full-time employees, which for this purpose is defined as averaging 30 or more hours per week. Additionally, ACA requires the University to complete complex annual IRS reporting. These requirements make it critically important for the University to be able to track hours for all employees. See FAQs for Tracking and Measuring Work Hours or the following website for more information on plan offers: https://www.hr.uillinois.edu/benefits/aca.

Extra Help Employees are eligible to participate in the University of Illinois 403(b) plan. Extra Help employees who elect to participate in this plan, must contribute at least $200.00 per year. Information can be found at https://www.hr.uillinois.edu/benefits/retirement/403b/.
